OVERVIEW The Toyota Camry is a very popular sedan in a lot of global markets. The vehicle is known for its bullet-proof reliability, space and comfort. In a lot of countries, the car is used as a taxi and cabbies swear by the vehicle. However, Toyota just couldn’t hit the right chord with buyers in this segment in India. The previous generation Camry sold in few numbers to private customers compared to the Skoda Superb while largely hotels bought the car. The seventh generation Camry came to our country in 2012 and it didn’t sell in big numbers in India thanks to the fact that it was expensive and came with a short equipment list. Toyota has now launched the[…]

OVERVIEW ; The race track is both the best and the worst place to test cars. Before you can begin to test a car on the tarmac, the track is already testing your ego. So, even if you get on to the track with a honed instinct to understand the car at hand, you have subliminally let that take a back seat by the time you are tackling the first corner. Often, it is a fight to keep the challenge going even as you weigh both your and the machine’s limitations. That is exactly how it seemed when I was peering through the windscreen of the new Baleno Rs. I was at the Buddh International Circuit, the F1 circuit in[…]

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has been a hit and the Ingolstadt-based automaker will want to get a stronger and fresh product to become competitive. The 2017 Audi Q5 shouldn’t be very far from its launch. The spy pictures captured by one of our readers and close friend Harsh Jhaveri. DESIGN AND STYLE ;[…]

OVERVIEW ; Honda Cars launched the new Amaze at the start of the year. The second we set eyes on it, we knew that the new Honda Brio would be just around the corner as well, the company just kept mum about it. Well, we were right and here it is, the new Brio, ladies and gentlemen. The changes which Honda have made are not mechanical, where they have chosen to focus their attention on is the styling and features. A mid-life upgrade, if you will. Well the old Honda Brio was a car that provided the individual quirky looks, Honda reliability and affordability. However, it needed something more and that comes in the shape of the new Brio we[…]

OVERVIEW The Tata Indica has no doubt shaped the Indian car market by being a product with many firsts. It was the first Indian car to have AC and power windows as standard, features which were found only on sedans. The Indica has made the common man consider cars as it was the only hatchback in its hay days to feature a diesel engine, thereby making sense in running costs. Now 15-years down the line, Tata Motors continues to sell the same Indica, which has been updated several times. What doesn’t change though is the shape. The Tata Indica has evolved but it’s no Porsche 911 that it won’t look dated. The Indica even with frequent make ups has started[…]

OVERVIEW ; The C-segment has been witnessing a very thorough and intense battle since the past few years. The Honda City has always reigned the market but Hyundai followed up closely with the Verna which did manage to overtake the former in sales. With the fourth generation City in the market, the battle grew even more interesting. Maruti then dropped a bomb by launching the Ciaz which sold in great numbers for the first couple of months and then sales dipped down slightly and settled at number two position in the segment. The Volkswagen Vento is a very worthy contender in this segment but unfortunately it didn’t really sell as much as its rivals thanks to a lot of reasons[…]

Ford EcoSport price in India   It all began when Renault launched the Duster in India. A completely new segment was created and it took the market by storm. The Duster, a nice and practical compact SUV turned out to be a runaway success and why not, it offered a lot for the price, right? Well, the answer to that question was delivered by Ford who launched the EcoSport which offered a bit more than the Duster and at a price which was a bit lesser. The EcoSport also became quite a success story until other compact SUVs started to flood the market. In a bid to generate more sales and of course to freshen up the product range, the[…]

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Price in India            Expensive, inefficient, and sluggish- these are just a few of the terms commonly associated with automatics. However, this trend is fast changing and a big contributor in bringing this change in perception has been the AMT or the Automated Manual Transmission technology. Maruti took the first step and brought in the Celerio AMT. At just a premium of 50k over the standard manual and with no loss in performance or fuel efficiency, the Celerio AMT was quick to garner a considerable popularity. A year after the successful introduction of the Celerio AMT, Maruti, once again, gave us the cheapest automatic money could buy in the form of the Alto K10 AMT (Now[…]
